New images: Underwater Recycling
At Gulen Dive Resort, visiting divers can help maintain a healthy house reef by throwing trash in the underwater trash bins.
- When emptied, this unique recycling project not only helps support local wildlife, it also emphasises our responsibility to care for the underwater world, says Ørjan Sandnes, owner of Gulen Dive Resort.
The three litter bins have become popular, and give divers the opportunity to help maintain a healthy and debris free house reef.

Unique recycling: Keeping a healthy reef is a priority at Gulen Dive Resort, and visiting divers can easily help.
|
At regular intervals, often in conjunction with Project AWARE cleanup dives, the bins are emptied and the contents taken to a local recycling plant. This summer, 250 kilos of underwater debris was removed!
The underwater recycling project was recently mentioned in the Project AWARE blog and on their Facebook page.

New images: 800 year old log boat
A few weeks back I had the unique opportunity to dive on the wreck of an over 800 year old log boat, days before it was salvaged.
The boat, which has been carbon dated to between 1160-1290, was 4,5 meters long and 0,46 meters wide and covered in mud.
Conditions were pretty lousy, but I still managed a few shots of this old medieval relic.

The oldest wreck I ever dived: The log boat, known since the stone age, was partially covered in mud in just 3-4 meters of water.
